چکیده

Abstract We measure the spatially resolved recent star formation history (SFH) of M33 using optical images taken with Hubble Space Telescope as part Panchromatic Andromeda Treasury: Triangulum Extended Region (PHATTER) survey. The area covered by observations used in this analysis covers a de-projected ?38 kpc 2 and extends to ?3.5 ?2 from center along major semimajor axes, respectively. divide PHATTER survey into 2005 regions that 24 arcsec, ?100 pc, on side fit color–magnitude diagrams for each region individually SFH within footprint. There are significant fluctuations small spatial scales also galaxy-wide we back about 630 Myr ago. observe more flocculent spiral structure stellar populations younger than 80 Myr, while older is dominated two arms. bar M33, which dominates at ages Myr. Finally, find mean rate (SFR) over last 100 footprint 0.32 ± 0.02 M ? yr ?1 . current SFR (over 10 Myr) 0.20 0.03 This slightly higher previous measurements broadband estimates, when scaled account fraction D25

Galactic Halo Stellar Structures in the Triangulum-andromeda Region∗

This letter reports on the Galactic stellar structures that appear in the foreground of our CanadaFrance-Hawaii-Telecopse/MegaCam survey of the halo of the Andromeda galaxy. We recover the main sequence and main sequence turn-off of the Triangulum-Andromeda structure recently found by Majewski and collaborators at a heliocentric distance of ∼ 20 kpc. The survey also reveals another less populat...

The Star Formation History of the Hubble Sequence: Spatially Resolved Colour Distributions of Intermediate Redshift Galaxies in the Hubble Deep Field

We analyse the spatially resolved colours of distant galaxies of known redshift in the Hubble Deep Field, using a new technique based on matching resolved four-band colour data to the predictions of evolutionary synthesis models. Given some simplifying assumptions we demonstrate how our technique is capable of probing the evolutionary history of high redshift systems noting the specific advanta...

An Extended Star Formation History for the Galactic Center from Hubble Space Telescope/NICMOS Observations

We present Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Near-Infrared Camera and Multiobject Spectrometer (NICMOS) observations as evidence that continuous star formation has created much of the central stellar cusp of the Galaxy. The data are the deepest ever obtained for a Galactic Center (GC) population, being >50% complete for mF205W< 19.3, or initial stellar masses &2 M⊙. We use Geneva and Padova stellar ...
